- Grid Component Capabilities
/pages/Server/Guide/Design/View/Grid/Grid Component Capabilities.xml
Web publishing applications only. A grid component displays reads from and writes to your database and displays the data in a web page. The Grid Builder is a genie that you use to create grid components.
The HTML Editor allows you to place grid components into A5W pages (an A5W page is a hybrid HTML/Xbasic page that is processed by the Application Server ).
Grids have many optional capabilities that you can enable or disable through menus. Many properties of a new grid component have default properties. If you wish, you can set different default property values.
- Auto-refresh Grid
/pages/Guides/Mobile and Web Components/Grid/Grid Properties/Miscellaneous/autorefreshgrid.xml
Specify if the Grid should be refreshed automatically. If you check this, you can specify a refresh interval. If the Grid is currently dirty (a row has been edited), it will not be refreshed.
- Previewing the Grid

When you republish the "AlphaSports_Customer_Grid" page, it will automatically republish its modified grid component.
- Select Column or Expression Dialog
/pages/Guides/Desktop/Design/Data/SQL/Select Column or Expression Dialog.xml
The Select Column or Expression dialog helps you define and validate expressions used in the SQL Genie. The value that you see in the Enter expression text box is returned to the calling dialog when you click OK.
- Web Grid Alternate Views
/pages/Server/Guide/Design/View/Grid/Web Grid/Web Grid Alternate Views.xml
The tabular and columnar views of a grid can convey a lot of information, but the human eye is much more sensitive to shapes and colors than it is to variations text. With an alternate view of a grid, you can display the same information in a way that grabs the user. If it's geographic information, the best display might be a map. If it's scheduling information, the best display might be a calendar.
Note that an Alternate view displays the same number of rows as its associated grid. This is in contrast to a Linked component or a component in a Row Expander, both of which display data linked to or contained in the current row.
When using alternate views, it is important to understand that the alternate view and the main view are given the same data. If your grid has a filter, it will also apply to the alternate view. If your grid is displaying 10 records on a page, the alternate view will display the same 10 records.
To enable Alternate Views, check "Has Alternate Views" in the grid properties.
