Components are the building blocks of Alpha Anywhere applications. A workspace can contain one or more components. Some types of components are better suited for mobile applications or web applications.
MDAC (Microsoft Data Access Components)

To use the ADO Import Genie, you must have ADO available. To have ADO available means you must have MDAC installed. If you have problems with MDAC, this link takes you to a Microsoft utility named Component Checker that can repair you MDAC installation. From the Microsoft site: "Component Checker utility has been redesigned to provide XML support. The new tool includes updated snapshots for MDAC 2.7 SP1 on Windows XP SP1 and MDAC 2.8 SP2 on Windows Server 2003 SP1. The Component Checker tool is designed to help you determine installed version information and diagnose installation issues with the Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC)."
Grid Templates

Whenever you create a new grid component in Alpha Anywhere, the Grid Templates Genie pops up, which lets you select one of several pre-defined templates or a template from your own library of templates.Templates can be a great time saver because you can pre-set a multitude of properties whenever you create a new component. Grid pane Label

If you are using a tab or an accordion container for your master template, the Grid pane label property will let you define the text that fits in the Grid panes title bar or tab. As with the Search pane label, you can modify the Grid pane label directly using HTML.
